* If you come from tech background, salary may seem to be on the lower side * Projects may not always be aligned with your interests and/or skills

Coming in without much experience is a challenge as you get passed over easily for projects if you not good at networking. Also, heavy focus on certifications which are paid for but if you're not getting those certs as fast as you can (example if you're like me who likes to really understand the material and have much hands on before taking the exam), you'd appear as not putting in the efforts and can be let go from the company. Also, you're given the impression that you'd be staffed on projects based on your skills/experience but then also told you need to apply to open roles and connect with staffing contacts for open roles but most of the time those contacts dont get back to you.

Starting a career in consulting can be unlike any other because there is a level of project unpredictability that many other professions do not grapple with. I encourage you and others newer to the company to be engaged with the company, your local office and talent community to get the most out of your Avanade experience. This in turn organically helps with contacts and connections with people and develops your network. In addition, I encourage you to reach out with these concerns to your career adviser and your scheduler so they can assist you as you move forward and help develop a robust career plan.

Pros

Training opportunities, flexible lateral moves, established policies/systems/processes. Average in terms of people; some are great, some are not, just like anywhere else.

Cons

Salaries not industry standard. Very hard to get promoted. Company goes through an overhaul every number of years (also like anywhere else) that puts everyone on edge - seems unstable. Unique political environment with Microsoft and Accenture as parent companies - has pros and cons.
