Pros

Avanade use to be a great place to work, however it seems that the company has shifted focus from people first to money, and Accenture first.

Cons

The pay was already sub-par, however, the benefits made up for that. Recently Avanade decided to eliminate paid sick time and lump it in with PTO, their justification is that they increased PTO accrual… by one hour per pay period. So, now you have to choose between taking a sick day or getting to take a vacation. And, to top it off, they decided to “harmonize” with Accenture regarding benefits, such as health insurance which resulted in the out of pocket cost almost doubling! And you can bet that there will not be any comparable raise to compensate. Furthermore, when approaching leadership regarding these changes their response: "Well who else is hiring", or "try to go find another job", it's absolutely atrocious. “It’s not an Accenture takeover” but it absolutely seems like it. It’s always going to be Accenture first. Avanade, you’ve lost your identity.

We recently announced that all US-based employee benefits and Paid Time Off (PTO) will move to Accenture’s plan, taking advantage of our partnership to extend richer benefits for our employees. For most these changes will be an improvement: better leave of absence policies & disability plans, more choice of healthcare providers & programs and we’ve doubled the 401k match for non-executives, to name a few. For some there will be an increase in premiums as we move from a family-based pricing policy to a per person based pricing model for medical coverage. Avanade will offset potentially higher premiums in year one with a subsidy for employees with two or more children. As an organization, we are committed to finding opportunities to improve our value proposition for our employees and I firmly believe these changes are positive for our US team members. There are a number of resources available to help employees understand what the changes will mean to them and I’m happy to answer any questions directly: p.d.phillips@avanade.com

Pros

Decent clients to work with. Provided excellent technology to do your job.

Cons

Only people based out of the regional offices can get ahead. Employees in other cities are on their own with little interaction from managers. Company hires too many technical resources then fires them when sales production is down. Company shifts financial failures to all employees by canceling social events and yearly bonuses without notice (found out I wasn't getting a bonus only because it was not on my paycheck when expected). They canceled holiday and summer events because the company is doing poorly. Total budget for both events was $5000. For FY 2017 all employees got enrolled in the Jelly of the Month club (Movie Reference). Yearly reviews are based on the amount of money available for raises not actual performance. You could receive top reviews from all clients and managers, go above and beyond getting certifications and still get an achieves\meets review score because there is not enough money in the budget to give you the raise and bonus that comes with a higher score.

This year was the first in our 17-year history where we did not achieve our aggressive double-digit growth goals. If you would like to discuss more, feel free to reach out to me directly at jeyan.jeevaratnam@avanade.com

Sinking ship - run

Pros

Training is good, benefits (ie: 401k and healthcare) are great

Cons

Everything else about this company is awful. Leadership is selfish and focused on their scorecards, there's little concern for building a great place to work. Sales team can't spend any money to make money, there's little to no celebration. This company is officially a joke now. Very sad as they were once great to work for. Keep raising prices and maintaining your highly priced overhead and you'll continue to drive yourself into the ground. The companies sales outlook is grim, growth is lagging and management continues to lay off regularly. RUN away people - don't look at this company. The hire one day and lay off the next because chargeability is a management metric (understandable) but your lack of ability to be competitively priced has created a vicious cycle of HIRE AND FIRE based on your unpredictable sales demand.
