Pros

As an artist myself, I am fortunate to work for a creative technology company. The products we make are an integral part of my life. The people at Avid complete the picture since they are equally passionate and we obviously have common interests. Their experience and intelligence inspires me to grow and learn. Salary and benefits are good and I feel more than fairly compensated for the work I do. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work at Avid.

Cons

Avid has obviously been through a lot of change, and it's understandable that many reviews here are negative based on some of the tough decisions being made. It underlines how passionate our employees are. Job security is a concern, but we are not unique there. I think we've been spoiled for many years and are having a tough time now that reality has arrived. Maybe some of that should be put on previous leadership instead of the guy trying to fix it...

Bad decision after bad decision.

Pros

There are flexible working options but apart from that there's not much else going for it. It seems that there are too few people having to do far too much.

Cons

Overwork, underpay, lack of knowledge and focus from Executives who spend more time tweaking the work systems than doing something far more useful with their time.

Pros

Avid offers careers in the professional video and audio industries. If you want to work in this field, you will probably include Avid as a potential employer.

Cons

As others on this site have detailed, Avid is in decline. The board of directors brought in a turn-around CEO in Dec 2007. He has made more wrong turns than right ones. Despite the C-level staff's expertise at spinning their actions to appear positive, they are still losing money, and sales are 65% of what they were two years ago. The general belief is that the company is being dressed up to be sold. Whoever buys Avid is going to be in for a surprise when they figure out what they purchased. The product lines are crumbling under the weight of technical debt, and employee morale is at rock bottom.
