Pros

Amazing mission that everyone is invested in, and awesome values that everyone seems to live by. The company as a whole is pretty decent, aside from the one (major) con listed.

Cons

Internal role changes or promotions result in minimal compensation bumps and you’re blocked by about a 10% increase, whereas external applicants will get offers at the higher end of the advertised range than you. Probably not the best place to have a lifelong career, you have to leave to get the appropriate pay which is heartbreaking.

Pros

I have been working at Axon for nearly three years, and I have absolutely loved my time there. I would recommend this company to anyone. Axon company has a powerful mission, and they’re also doing their best to make real societal impact every day. Both with technological advancements and with philanthropic company initiatives like Axon Aid (which offers both free mental health resources and disaster relief). I feel like my work has a positive impact on the world, and, because I am close to the work and the planning around new initiatives and product launches, I am 100% assured that our leadership cares deeply about the mission and our entire team is dedicated to ethical, impactful development. Moreover, the teams (and leadership) are wonderful. I’ve had the best managers of my career at Axon, and I was fortunate enough to be working at the company when Rick Smith (Axon’s CEO) gave away millions of his own compensation to anyone at the company making less than the $90K happiness threshold. If that doesn’t make you feel good about where you work, I can’t imagine what would. Other Pros: - Unlimited Paid Time Off - Remote First Culture - Stock Compensation (AND sustained stock results) - Great Benefits - LinkedIn Learning Subscription for Everyone (and a culture that supports continuous learning) - Teammates Who Support Work/Life Balance - Transparency Organization Wide - Real Opportunities to Impact the World

Cons

The biggest con at Axon is that the company is rapidly growing, and we feel the growing pains. Sometimes incoming work surges, and I’m left working to burnout to keep things afloat until after we get through our next product launch or event. I do find that the team cares a lot about our individual well being, and they support time off afterword for recovery - even if the expectation is to push through until launch. I also feel that the step up in pay for promotions is well below industry standard on our team, so you’ll need to jump to positions on other internal teams to get a market pay increase over time. Summary of Cons: - Promotional Pay Increases are Lacking - Burnout Risk
