      Good place to work, a lot of dead wood though

      Pros

      I love my job. I joined as an apprentice at 16. Have 8 years as shop floor. A few years as a junior engineer and now a senior systems engineer.

      Cons

      There are a lot of employees ‘cruising’ who have been given pay/grade rises in the past when really they should never have received them. And now we’ll under perform for the amount they are paid. This is currently halting the progression of many younger and motivated employees due to the outdates ‘dead mans shoes’ system of grading. Progression in terms of not only pay, but also responsibility and aspirations.

      Cons

      Being a big company, things do not move quick enough. Getting the smallest of things takes ages for the process to complete Innovation is expected but the freedom to try new ideas is not present as security policies restrict everything Hardware and software need a major upgrade
