Pros

This is a great inbetween job when you need something to get you by for now but unless you are proficient in kissing up to the authority, you won't get anywhere.

Cons

The individuals who work there are among the most repulsive that I have ever met. I have seen people publically urinate, dirty condoms bottles of urine and fecal matter as well as graffiti inside and on the naval ships we repair. Their quality of work is a joke and they seem to drag things out just to get over time then complain that they always have to work. They sabatash others work and deny their mistakes or carelessness. In regards to the facility itself, it is disgustingly filthy and seems to be falling apart. There are piers that have collapsed years ago but are still not repaired, the equipment is barely in working order and safety overlooked by the supervisors if money can be saved. Subcontractor parking is inconsistent and insufficient, the hiring process is a joke unless your skin is the right color, and health standards are terribly low. To say the least, this is a last chance shipyard.

Pros

BAE places highly intelligent and motivated people into leadership positions at the contract sites and does not micromanage from the corporate office. When I began working at BAE in 2011 the pay and benefits were great. The 14 hours of PTO was nice too.

Cons

The biggest challenge working here came from the disconnect from the corporate office and the employees working at offsite locations. As budgets became tighter and pay and benefits began decreasing the corporate office was holding happy hour meet and greet events. The lack of stability caused me to look for employment.
