You need to be pro-active and a self starter
Pros
Pay decent (however not equal to tech). Steady employment for last few years while tech in disarray. Overall, I think I've been lucky with the group I'm in. Great people to work with and we all help each other out when needed. Never had any conflicts and everyone I've worked with I've had only really good experiences with.
Cons
Can be overly bureaucratic. But its goverment work. Following SOP's can be challenging/baffling at times. Some SOP requirements change depending on program. Getting stuck working on/with with legacy designs is a painful process. RTO seems arbitrary, time wasteful, in some cases not even neccessary. Get more real work done working remote without all the office distractions and commute stress. Perhaps could use a little more training on SOP's, if they would give us a training program and the unbillable hours to do so. Wish we had better/more heathcare options.
