Senior Leaders don't seem to be able to grasp hybrid working. Often referring to it as 'having a day off' Whilst it is advertised in the recruitment ads, too many Managers limit it in order to micro manage and don't empower employees to manage their own time in accordance with the demands of their role, or limit it because the manager themselves can't adapt to changing ways of working. The current working practice from the senior leadership is to go get more people working from the office more frequently e.g. 3 to 4 days per week. This is particularly poor leadership where many roles e.g. Procurement, Commercial, Finance etc really don't need to be onsite that often in order to perform their roles, and, where people should be empowered to manage their own onsite/wfh arrangement according to their work demands. BAE claims to be innovative and bold, but in this respect it is a fail. Leaders of the ESUK business are failing to lead the way in the new ways of working, and, many employees are leaving for better hybrid working arrangements or potential new employees are opting not to apply for roles with BAE preferring to work elsewhere where companies are offering better wfh/remote working arrangements.
