Pros

By some crazy, lucky means, BAE continues to attract the top talent to the organisation, keeping Oxbridge graduates and architects with immense ability for periods upwards of 18 months.

Cons

Projects provided by the business are poorly defined, leading to sub-standard results and ultimately products that fail to sell in the market. Financial targets are regularly missed, leading to zero bonuses for the last two years for the majority of staff. Indecision and flux of management causes friction and changing priorities from month to month, causing the wasted effort of all engineers on the prior management's whims.

Pros

If you're lucky, you get to work on interesting and engaging projects. Good colleagues, good work/life balance, freedom to make project technology decisions and tools (mostly). Highly ethical work culture. Values and differences are respected, little to no discrimination here. Options are available to move between teams, but highly subject to business need and availability.

Cons

Backend stack is primarily Java. It's trying to be a tech company, but it really is a systems integration and consulting company. If you're unlucky, and you're not vocal, you get stuck in projects/tasks that are boring. Also, if you're not based near HQ, you are sidelined from major and interesting projects (i.e. politics). A lot of us-vs-them scenarios going on. Often have to prove our worth to the "other side" first before work can come in. Lack of trust becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Pros

Share matching (max £75), Flexi time, Bonus (max £1000) , 25 days holiday + bank holidays (8), Employee incentive scheme (cars, mobile, days out, shopping)

Cons

The pay is not the best for the size of company. Most companies the size of BAE pay £10-£20k more for a similar role.
