They expect way too much from their administrative professionals. Every time an admin left or was terminated, they rarely replaced them. They just redistribute the work to the remaining admins. Result: Overworked administrative staff who don't even want to be there anymore.

Employees must be willing to learn new things and change positions (possibly moving to new locations) in order to grow. There is a strong push to promote from within, but a particular position is unlikely to change in title as in the traditional sense of "getting a promotion."
