Company policies make is much more beneficial to go into a buisness role rather than the plant, which is driving great professionals away from manufacturing. Additionally, the diverisity push has hurt morale with a lot of workers because they feel like they do not have a chance to advance due to their diversity status.

BASF is preoccupied with winning awards for diversity and inclusion and all other types of "progressive employer" designations, but they never hire people who may have some "salt and pepper" in their hair or a few wrinkles in their face. They are always looking to phase out "experienced" workers in order to bring in younger, cheaper talent. Besides me, I personally know at least 3 other people -- male and female -- over the age of 50 who interviewed at BASF and were clearly the most qualified candidates for the particular roles they applied for. Miraculously, none of them got the job, and the ones that were hired were younger, and more "diverse" candidates. Any good company hires truly the BEST candidate, no matter how old they are or what their background is. But, BASF gets off on being mentioned as a "progressive" employer, but they do it at the expense of not hiring older candidates, or phasing out older employees.
