Pros

Great Innovative company. Semi Flexible

Cons

Managers and upper management live in a cloud. There is too much politics and not enough work related concern. That goes from top to bottom. Sad to say there are managers, especially foreign-born who possess PHDs but lack professionalism when it comes to basic communication, safety, feedback and team work. The upper management either is blind or have turned their face. Sad to say all it takes is one 'stupid' mistake of harrasment by these foreigners and then BASF will be in the front page, not because of their hard work but because of these sheer coziness with unprofessionals!! By the way there are managers who are literally working and making contribution and probably that's why the company is what it is. I have seen the company since past 10 years and am ashmed what has become lately by sheer mismangement and poltical attitude of them; running from VP to HR to Managers.

Pros

Good opportunities for advancement if you push hard enough, good pay packages and benefits, strong position in the industry, great people at mid-level positions, somewhat flexible work hours- but it depends on the manager, nice work environment

Cons

Forget moving past a certain level if you are an American- all decision makers for the North American business are non-Americans, very political environment that tends to reward those that play along, poor work-life balance in well-paying positions, constant turnover in many positions- no continuity as people are constantly moved around, generally poor professional development process, way too process oriented- very German culture

Pros

The work load is challenging and meaningful. There is a lot going on with the company right now, and it is easy to see how my efforts are directly impacting/furthering the business. Opportunities for advancement appear to still be available even in our most recent economic downturn, although competition for advancement is stiff. BASF's product portfolio serves our daily lives, and BASF will continue to bring solutions that are sustainable, and this is exciting. BASF is the best chemical company in the industry.

Cons

Work-life balance. You may find yourself working much more than 40 hour weeks. Quality of work environment is directly related to the management style of management (Director level) than your team work dynamics. Relatively speaking, this company is not diverse.
