Lack of Direction and Morale Challenges Across Business Units

Pros

The compensation and benefits package is competitive for the industry

Cons

During my time at BD, I found that a major challenge was the lack of alignment and direction across the company’s various business platforms. This disconnect often led to delayed decision-making, conflicting priorities, and an absence of clear strategic execution. Morale was noticeably low across departments, and high turnover—both at the employee and leadership levels—further disrupted continuity and collaboration. While the company has strong market presence and potential, cultural and structural issues need to be addressed to support long-term growth and employee engagement.

Pros

Nice coworkers. People have a lot of industry knowledge not easily attainable outside the organization.

Cons

No raises. Small bonuses only after years of work. Frequent restructuring. Frequent position eliminations. Do not outline goals well. Allow only Fridays for wfh and track days in office through badge swipes. The organization can feel overbearing in monitoring in office attendance.

Pros

Reasonable pay, got 6 weeks paid paternity leave, wonderful people I work with.

Cons

Not enough PTO. Sometimes thoughts as a scientist are overruled by higher management, which is frustrating.
