the hours aren't as bad as some other public accounting firms out there. it could be worst but this place definitely has its downfalls, let me tell you.

Cons

horrible moral. the tax group is not that good. there is no guidence and no real opportunity to grow here.

Pros

This office has a broad base of clients and offers good opportunities to work on various areas of tax preparation. Hours during busy season were not bad compared to typical tax departments in other public accounting firms.

Cons

I found the tax department in the Charlotte, NC, office extremely conservative and unwelcoming to newcomers. Reviewers were more interested in embarrassing you and asserting their own superiority than explaining how you could complete the task correctly next time.

Pros

While BDO is already a large public accounting firm, it is growing rapidly, particularly in tax. There is room for advancement at the company and they are pretty flexible when it comes to work and other obligations.

Cons

It will be a lot of work. Maybe too much to make it worthwhile. The long hours maybe too much for some people and the reward not great enough. Also, the environment is heavily work oriented, so much so, that words might not be spoken for hours.
