High Turnover?

Pros

I retired from BECU and it was great all the way until it was time to hang up my door pass. The work environment was relaxing and access to management was an open door policy. Pay was competitive complemented with hard work. Everyone was friendly and support staff were more than willing to help when the going gets tough.

Cons

The sales goal that could make or break an employment; a seemingly tedious form of quality control that puts everyone on their toes adding more stress to the already pressure cooker environment in trying to meet sales goals; employee turnover, while it's good for BECU's bottom line it impacts the quality of work and efficiency. Case in point, I closed on an auto loan just recently and the consultant who has worked for BECU for a year just made too many mistakes. This in turn put additional burden when I had to contact BECU the following workday to have them change the contract. Call center loan reps could not even give me a simple bi-weekly calculation when all variables were available. Last but not the least, there's no denying the fact that after the subprime crisis, the feeling that BECU has metamorphosed into a profit driven organization is out in the open. At least that's how I see it too.

BECU is a special culture within financial services

Pros

BECU is a unique culture in banking that is rarely found anywhere and special because it is one of the only and last local Seattle based banks of it’s size. Excellent benefits, coworkers and values. Because the home office is local, many more career opportunities for those who stay in Seattle. Wait-no brutal soul crushing micromanage and product pushing makes for happier employees and members?!

Cons

Credit unions have less risk appetite for good reason, but it can seem like we are passing up a lot of current opportunity taking market share from larger competitors by not always being able to compete on product or price. We encounter business that wants to leave the big banks but cannot because we can’t offer the same platform and that is sad.

Pros

Relatively good benefits. Genuinely care about career growth.

Cons

Can't get the days off you want if you work in retail center. Monitor everything like length of breaks, emails, IMs, etc.
