CEO actively discriminates

Pros

Good pay great pension and benefits

Cons

This company is now focused on hiring and promoting BIPOC and LGBTQ community for employment and the CEO actively participates in stating this to employees. The problem with this is there any many other marginalized and oppressed communities that she isn't including in her woke agenda. It seems she wants to promote people who are like her! I was told directly I wasn't a priority over other BIPOX staff for promotion because my skin was the wrong color, even though my disability puts me in the marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged population. The CEO is actively discriminating against people with disabilities, people that are white, and people that are not part of the LGBTQ group.

Pros

decent pay and people are fun to talk with

Cons

- the new CEO for sure needed to shake things up but is trying to transform this once great institution for the community to just a normal f*** you bank - no upward mobility they hire externally over already proven employee's because its cheaper - I was actually held back from another position only because me leaving would through off branch goals, they will pigeon hole you if you do a good job at the branch level - When I left and applied back I was told they would likely never select a past employee for an interview regardless of past performance

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take concerns about culture, mobility, and opportunity very seriously. We want you to know that we hear your concerns. Over a third of BECU hires are from our employee base. Even so, we recognize a need to better service our existing team members and are hard at work creating tools and resources for a better internal mobility experience. BECU will never discourage anyone from applying. If you feel this has happened, please call in and speak with someone in our HR department. In the meantime, we will ensure your feedback is routed to the proper channels, departments, and people. We know leaving difficult feedback isn't always easy, but we appreciate you taking the time to do so.

It was great until it wasn't.

Pros

Remote work. Decent culture. Good coworkers.

Cons

Lack of accountability from higher up. Constant change with no clear direction. Higher tons of new VP and executive from external sources and out of state. Focus seems to be moving to more of traditional bank instead of credit Union culture. Little room for growth in role.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take concerns about very seriously. We know it's not always easy to share this type of experience. As BECU has continued to grow, and has aspirations of helping even more members, we have had to ensure leadership is in place to continue moving in that direction. We appreciate knowing that communication in regards to that may have fallen short. Over a third of open roles are filled by current employees, and we are creating new focuses on internal mobility for our team members. We will ensure that your feedback is shared with the proper channels for review and consideration. Thank you again for taking the time to share with us.
