Pros

Work-life balance is reasonably good, but progressive employee policies tend to be reactive rather than proactive. The company consistently attempts to meet only the bare minimum requirements.

Cons

My experience with BGC has been profoundly disappointing due to several systemic issues. Management, particularly in Technology, is ineffectual and lacks strategic vision, resulting in poor decision-making and inadequate support for teams. The company also employs opaque remuneration practices, frequently to the detriment of employees, fostering mistrust and dissatisfaction. Benefits are substandard compared to industry norms, further diminishing the organization's appeal. Career progression is virtually non-existent, leaving ambitious employees stifled in a stagnant environment. This, combined with a culture that prioritizes complacency—evidenced by the prevalence of "lifers" coasting to retirement—drives talented individuals to leave as quickly as possible. Consequently, the company suffers from a lack of innovation and fresh ideas, compounding its challenges and worsening its overall prospects. As a result, morale among staff is alarmingly low, and leadership shows little interest in addressing these issues or valuing employees' well-being. When employees eventually decide to leave, they are often vilified and even threatened with the withdrawal of their deferred compensation. New candidates are presented with an overly optimistic portrayal of potential projects and career progression, but the reality is stark: this is where careers go to die. I strongly encourage potential candidates—especially new graduates—to carefully consider these factors before pursuing an opportunity here.
