Pros

Direct Supervisors have recently been trained to be effective leaders. It has resulted in lots of positive changes. Supervisors are open, encouraging, and make efforts to ensure you succeed. The company is sensitive to personal needs. Human Resources is excellent. They recently lost a great Director, though! Home/Work flexibility has been outstanding! Clients are treated with utmost respect and professionalism. There is a small bonus every three months if client surveys are returned with positive feedback.

Cons

Pay is NOT competitive and they do not reward new hires with experience. One with 15 years of experience makes the same as a recent college graduate. Raises average 2%...hardly the cost of living increase. Health insurance costs are surprisingly high and are only truly worth the cost if you utilize only BJC hospitals/Pharmacies. They do not take into account that some employees live nowhere near one of their sites. Top executive refuses to directly answer challenging questions when in a focus group. Will deny hearing other employees concerns about the issue or deny there is a problem in the company.

Pros

Outwardly, BJC is a great company with charitable intentions and solid contributions to the community. Healthcare delivered is top notch with high patient satisfaction scores. Good work-life balance which makes up for the bottom-shelf salaries.

Cons

BJC is more worried about growth and capturing the market and making money, despite being a not-for-profit organization. It's all about the bottom line, Cheap but incompetent employees rule the roost and if you are a poor employee, they don't get rid of you they "manage you out" often to another service line who then has to deal with your poor performance. Employees who question strategy or challenge the status quo are penalized.

Pros

- Best company to work if you want to retire, need good healthcare and believe in company's motto - Favorable company for IT contractors. Cha-ching! - You do get yearly raise more than 1% and bonus for hourly employees too. - You can sell your holidays - The company teaches you how to be politically savvy. - Very challenging job if you are a manager

Cons

- You get promoted based on how politically savvy you are. In fact, in many job description it is requirement. - Not a best place to work if you are new college grad - Except few management employees, there are many unprofessional IT employees. - Many IT teams are running the team like mom and pop shop. - Unless you work for 6 months, you are completely alien. You will be lucky if you can find good application documentation.
