Pros
The work is undemanding and job security is reasonably safe. A good place to start in the industry I think but not as a long-term carrer plan. Unless of course you are bureactically minded and good at office politics.
Cons
I got thie impression that the departments acted as a collection of petty fiefdoms each living in its micro-world. There never seemed to be any overall plan or inter-departmentcommunication. There always used to be lots and lots of meetings were nothing was really achieved in the end. Promotion is based on who the department boss likes rather than ability and if you have an enquiring mind and a desire to progress this is not the place for you.
