Pros

The building was nice at least Benefits sounded great, 401k match, etc. Lasting long enough to get them was another matter.

Cons

The training was scattershot and awful.. just endless modules. The first-line manager needs a lot of work on people skills. They do not care.. they grind people up and spit them out. Over half of the people in my group quit within the first 3 months. They even limit how much time - 5 minutes/twice a week- you can sign off the system and go to the restroom. Managers treat people like elementary school kids, with unreasonable expectations. Not a good place to work

Pros

- Good Pay for a position that is usually underpaid and undervalued. - Free coffee benefit until the end of the year, helped me save a ton of money. - Beautiful office with a proper cafeteria and some space to work collaboratively with coworkers. - People that are on the same level as you in the corporate hierarchy are great people and make the day 100x better. - Great community of people in E/BRG's.

Cons

- Due to how big teams are they are incredibly silo'd leaving teams missing info on completing projects and in turn the blame is placed on the employees. - Leadership makes/suggests changes on the fly, without real vision on what they want to accomplish with their projects. - Manager is typically stressed beyond their mind with workloads, and don't have time to manage their own employees. (Resorting to either micromanaging or being absent to get in contact with them.) - Lack of real performance review, improvement, metrics, etc. - Employees get let go sometimes without a real conversation for who fills that position, their responsibilities just get picked up by someone else.

Do Not Care About Employees

Pros

Direct managers try to advocate for their employees, despite never being listened to.

Cons

Does not care about their employees’ work life balance or mental health. Despite not paying its employees enough to live near its offices, despite not offering commute refunds, paid lunches, or childcare to its employees, BNY has, over the last couple of months, steeply increased mandatory in office days and begun strictly surveilling employees to ensure compliance at the expense of their performance reviews (which impact early compensation), despite all success metrics being met when employees were fully remote. They are inflexible and do not care about their employees —that some spend 2 hours commuting a day, that some have children, or that some need accommodations. Do not work here.
