      Good for work experience

      Pros

      Benefits are pretty great. Average PTO.

      Cons

      The training process needs a lot of work. Only the most knowledgeable and experience should train new employees. Safety needs to be a bigger priority for production. The most basic safety precautions were being ignored.

      Thank you for your feedback. Over the past two years, Bachem has made significant strides in the area of training, including management and technical training. These efforts continue, using both in-house and outside resources to train and develop staff at all levels of the organization. Bachem takes employee safety seriously. It is the expectation at Bachem that no activities are conducted at the expense of safety. All employees are required to work in a safe manner, and they are expected and encouraged to communicate any concerns regarding safety to any member of the management team, as well as to Bachem’s EHS representatives.

      Avoid If You're A Production Chemist

      Benefits, as a whole, are great - Notably their 401k, medical insurance, VSP Majority of the company promotes a cordial and sociable environment - Some of the most pleasant people were outside my department The company invests in training their employees, notably to communicate efficiently between and among teams/departments - Other employees were extremely fond of this seminar

      Cons

      Words mean little within the department - Promotions dangled over people's heads, assurances that behavioral issues will be resolved, team-building events fall through, etc. Favoritism biases upper managements' enforcement of the rules - Overlooking not clocking out for lunch/breaks, diminishing the severity of workplace harassment, distributing responsibilities unequally and burdening a select few Reporting the aforementioned offenses results in subtle acts of retaliation - Those who spoke up about the harassment were expected to work longer than 12 hour shifts while the offenders barely had enough work to fill an 8 hour shift Lack of professionalism often interferes with your work - In conjunction with long hours, the immaturity within the workplace resulted in a stressful environment, and evidently, high turnover All in all, avoid production chemist positions like the plague; we're not leaving in droves for no reason

Bachem is looking into the topics noted in your review and is working diligently to solve them. We are reviewing our staffing levels in production and continue to strive toward a better work-life balance for our team members. Additionally, we have increased the number of team leads in manufacturing areas to improve communication and collaboration. Bachem continues to provide training to all employees to facilitate effective communication and to create a more cohesive working environment. We encourage round table sessions with our Site Manager and ask that our employees also provide suggestions on how we can further improve.

      They will teach your alot of useful skills plus the pay is better than most companies for entry level

      Cons

      Not many people have been promoted from Chemist 1 to chemist 2
