Pros

Steep learning curve keeps you on your toes Working with some of the best and brightest people Good salary and perks like expensing dinner and a cab home Friendly cooperative culture First class training Exposure to different industries Rarely if ever asked to work the weekend

Cons

House can be quite long (60 average, peaks of 70-75) Some cases/projects last 6-12 months and can get boring Limited visibility into when work is required on a weekly basis Limited visibility into staffing pipeline

Pros

The AC job at Bain and Company NY is the best job in the world out of undergrad. Full stop. The training you receive is unparalleled, the people are the coolest, kindest, most interesting people you could hope to befriend, and the brand name opens doors all over the world. Your colleagues will challenge you to be better without ever being cutthroat (no one discusses ratings, ever), and in many cases will be your main social group outside of work - not out of necessity, but by choice.

Cons

The work is hard, the hours are long, and you don't get paid as much overall as a banker. If you're young and don't have a family, that shouldn't be an issue for your first few years though.

Pros

The work is engaging and nearly everyone you work with is brilliant. Lots of effort put into personal development and growth. People really care about you, and the atmosphere is more collaborative than competitive.

Cons

Bain, like all consulting, has highly variable work. Sometimes it's very, very busy, other times it's not. The problem is that planning for it is very difficult. You can rarely commit to things outside of work more than 1-2 days in advance, if at all.
