Pros

Paycheck. Online courses are only five weeks ; which allows for eight classes to be taught per year if you only teach one class per term.

Cons

Pay scale is quite low, especially for undergraduate classes. Online graduate classes pay more, but aren't competitive with what other colleges/universities pay. Very rigid posting requirements and evaluation reduce faculty members down to essentially grading professionals. Student quality is quite low, since the college is a "right to try" college (in their words), where a GED and/or high school diploma is the minimum requirement to take classes, but a qualification for student loans and government grants are preferred. Essentially, low quality students and low pay, along with meddling Deans, pretty much summarizes this place of employment. Would not recommend, since there are other employers in the online environment preferred over this college.

Pros

Excellent benefits and really good pto, paid holidays, 3 months paid time off for maternity leave. You learn a lot about some pretty incredible programs that turn ppls lives around. You feel like you are providing an incredible resource to some pretty undeserved populations.

Cons

THe philosophy that Baker is always the best option for the student, makes it hard to really do right by the student. While you are ultimately trying to serve the student, while making budget... at the end of the day, budget, and making goal is more important than the student. You have to understand that at this job you are more of a sales person guised as an advisor--but you learn a lot. Be prepared to feel like it's 1972... you will be wearing matching suits, and nylons if you are a lady.... You will have to work 12 hour days during busy seasons too.
