In a death spiral...

Pros

There are not really any pros to speak of. There were plenty when I started working there, but as the years went on I saw a lot of hollow promises.

Cons

This is a for profit college parading around as a non-profit. Executives waste buckets of money acquiring other failing colleges and marketing but terminate employees in waves. Senior management lives a lavish lifestyle while the worker bees are constantly in fear for their jobs. Family and friends of family are rewarded even if they are inept. People only work at the whim of senior management and if they ever sour on you for any reason from the way you dress one day to something someone else says about you (true or untrue), you will be fired at their earliest convenience.

Pros

Professional Atmosphere. Comprehensive Benefits Package. Most staff members truly believe in the product and want the college to be successful.

Cons

High turnover A praise up, blame down mentality A "But we've always done it this way" mind set. A "Willingness to adapt and change" seems like a catchy slogan rather than an embraced philosophy

Poor campus leadership

Pros

There are some amazing, talented people that work for this organization. I have meet some great people working for this organization. The company provides 10% contribution to 401K and full-benefits for full-time employees.

Cons

The leadership at system and at the campus level are making poor decisions that are negatively affecting the image and future of Baker College. Being a full-time salary employee you will be required to work well over 40 hours a week some weeks with no flex time. The work schedule is variable and you will be required to work multiple shifts. There is a high staff turnover as employees are getting burnt out quickly. The campus president at the Allen Park campus is not willing to think outside of the box and will not even consider ideas that are not his own. Many new ideas and concepts have been presented with no further development.
