Constant Cuts, Reorgs, and Outsourcing. Horrible leadership and business structure.

Pros

401k match, time off. The dedicated and talented legacy employees that somehow keep this from imploding. Products that have historically owned the market they serve. Brand recognition.

Cons

Obscenely woke, DEI culture. Horribly short sighted management fixated on growth through cuts, outsourcing to India, and reoccurring service contracts and software revenue rather than investing in the products and technology.

Great for gaining experience - tough to find long-term opportunities

Pros

The ASPIRE program is great for gaining valuable and diverse experience. You have the chance to travel and the pay is very solid for an individual who just graduated college. Also, the work-life balance is amazing and it is clear the company values their employees. Unlimited (and easy to get) PTO, a lot of holidays, and great 401k matching are all big plusses.

Cons

Not much compensation outside the base salary as you only get a yearly bonus, which is usually not very much. Most people in the program (in E&T) struggle to find a good opportunity here long-term after the program is finished. You are likely to secure a long-term role with a team, it just may not be the one you want.

GE destroyed Baker Hughes and still does today

Pros

There are no pros to GE joining BH. Look it up, GE Oil & Gas was in the dump. Because GE had more shares, they controlled the business in the merger, so GE's management would take control. The same management that had drove GE Oil & Gas into the ground. When it was finalized the BHGE was nothing more than a bigger company for the management to continue to destroy. The legacy Baker Hughes management that had built the company to its pride in the Oilfield Industry were all gone, they either were let go took a package deal and left or soon after went to competition. Then, not a year into the deal, GE wants out, but it was to late, the damage was done.

Cons

GE Oil & Gas would manage the company after the merge. Departments won't work together. Upper management didn't care, it's drawing a pay check to them. Management is all lip service and all drinking the Kool-aid. Legacy BH employees treated much differently. When GE made its exit, it was to late, damage was done. What's left are Legacy GE employees running the company, same ones that destroyed GE Oil & Gas, and Legacy BH employees that have been put into none management roles or lower business units with zero contribution to running the overall business.
