Pros

Good benefits, cool DEI initiatives, annual raises, excellent coworkers (most of the time)

Cons

Upper management/administration is super out of touch with frontline staff and their needs, really low staffing across branches but still hiring a bunch of random HR positions, budget mainly goes to buying like hundreds of copies of Patterson or Roberts books that get tossed in a month or two but then staff have to work with small programming budgets.

Thorough training Leadership proactively deals with problem patron behavior Great coworkers Wonderful balance between front desk/back room time Reasonable programming load Huge collection

Cons

Leadership has a hostile relationship to the union Uneven transition to new technology Can't sit at public desk (location depending) Archaic expectations for timeliness

We currently partner with Baltimore County OIT for our technology needs, use the suite of Microsoft office products and are in the process of upgrading our Polaris cataloging system.
