      Good place to work, was getting stifling when I left.

      Pros

      Pretty quiet, rarely any major problems.

      Cons

      Much faster pace than it looks, stressful when the backlog of books to return to the shelves gets large. Additionally, around the time I was leaving, a bunch of rules and regulations were instituted that not only caused the shelvers to dislike the management more, they actually caused the entire process to run slower and created more backlog.

      Limited opportunities for growth, lots of vicarious trauma

      Pros

      relaxed dress code, excellent benefits, opportunities to learn cool things (like coding, 3D printing), new director has initiated some great changes

      Cons

      limited opportunities for growth, inconsistent management/experience across branches (some branches are a wonderful place to work, while other branches are the worst place to work), master's degrees are encouraged yet the work itself does not seem to require such advanced schooling, branches are over-staffed so there is not a lot of work to go around and days can be boring.
