School environment depends on your principal, the county really doesn't take teacher feedback about leadership seriously and the union doesn't help much with that, as well. The curriculum they are rolling out to meet CCSS standards lacks depth but if you have a supportive principal and work with a helpful team you can easily make changes to meet the needs of your students. Also wish they had a special Ed curriculum. Not much area to grow unless you are a favorite of your principal.

1 Waking up really early, most high schools start at 7:30 am...in my opinion, too early for many students 2 Pay is really too low for the amount of work, especially if you become a long term substitute which is the same as being a full time teacher in the classroom. In that case, you would make $100/day for all the planning, presenting, managing, and grading work. Too much work for too little pay.
