Pros

Founded with a fantastic culture in mind. Excellent benefits. Fun place to work. Amazing coworkers.

Cons

Culture has changed significantly. Instead of helping employees grow from good to great, they are just being fired for making mistakes. In many cases it's not even a mistake but management stretches to find reasons to fire people. Instead of being a great place to work it's just another big company with too many employees to be able to focus on culture.

Hello! Thanks for your thoughts. BambooHR was definitely founded with the desire to create a great place to work and we're glad to hear that you were able to experience that. Since the beginning of BambooHR and ongoing, our goal has always been to focus on the people, and regardless of how many employees we have, that focus and priority will never change. We recognize that we're humans and mistakes happen. Though that's part of the process of growing from good to great, it becomes a problem when we're not learning from those mistakes or when mistakes are continuously repeated. Part of having a great place to work requires the commitment to make every minute count and to be all in. Unfortunately in situations where minimum job requirements aren't met or when the same mistakes are continuously made, it requires that we part ways. It's definitely not an easy thing, as we genuinely care about each and every person. We really wish the best for every Bambooligan, past or present, and we are grateful for the time that you spent at BambooHR!

Pros

Working remotely, flexible schedule, good time off policies.

Cons

Terrible direct-to managers; people in management positions they shouldn't be, disconnected management, false promises of "family".

We love the pros here and are super concerned about the cons. We've discussed them internally and will seek out where we went wrong. We focus on excellent communication, but it looks like we can do more here. We hope you gave this specific feedback to your managers, HR, or an executive directly, and we wish you the best of success!

Pros

I've really enjoyed my time working at BambooHR. The people I work with are top notch and for a while I actually bought into the idea Bamboo was a different kind of company.

Cons

Sadly it seems though Bamboo has decided to hang their Utah remote workers out to dry. They've recently decided that certain people are not capable of remote work. And those people are anyone unlucky enough to live close to the office. The worse part about this change is they like to pretend they care, and that they listen to their employees. For a while I believed it. Their mantra is to do great work, but apparently that comes now with the added stipulation of "While in the office". If you're considering applying here I'd recommend you be from out of state, because if you're in Utah then your remote work days will probably be numbered.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience at BambooHR. We're pleased to hear that you've enjoyed working with our top-notch team and that you initially felt aligned with our company culture. We understand your concerns regarding some roles having consistent in-office expectations, particularly for our team members based in Utah. Our decision to adjust our approach was made after careful consideration and evaluation of the needs of each line of business, and in our Tech and Product organizations, some groups will have more in-person collaboration to help deliver our roadmap for customers. We want to assure you that our intention is not to disregard the preferences or needs of our team members. Rather, it's to create an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute their best work. We understand that communication around these changes may not have been as clear or transparent as it should have been, and for that, we apologize. Moving forward, we are committed to improving our communication channels and ensuring that all employees are informed and supported throughout any transitions. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will take it into account as we continue to refine our policies and practices. If you have any further concerns or suggestions and would like to speak further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your leadership team directly or hr@bamboohr.com. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us. -Anita, Head of HR
