Pros

- This is a fulfilling and richly rewarding career choice. - The knowledge you gain is extremely practical and often applies not only to clients, but to your own finances and your family's financial planning for the rest of your life. - You are absolutely your own boss in terms of how you manage your time, effort and business, but there are still clear office standards and expectations that you'll be working to meet. - This is very much a "you get what you put in" career. To that end, if you want to eventually become a Financial Advisor, there are well established and effective in-house programs that enable Agents to do so. - Compensation is 100% commission based, supplemented by a clearly defined bonus structure. - The office culture is fun, supportive and casually competitive, with frequent themed contests, incentives, gift cards, food etc. Colleagues are collaborative and willing to help whether that's answering questions, training, assisting with appointments, etc. - Once you've got some speed at the end of "the runway", there is significant opportunity as an Agent or Advisor at Bankers Life. It's not completely unheard of for those in their 3rd or even 2nd year with the company to be making 6 figures, but don't be mislead, it takes work. - Overall, Bankers Life offers strong long term potential for those willing to buckle down, push through the early challenges and treat it as a true career rather than a short term job or get rich quick plan. I've been here 1 year and am seeing results already. If I can, you can too.

Cons

- The first 1-2 years can be challenging with a learning curve and a constant influx of new information. (You could call this "the runway".) - Income can be inconsistent early on and results are directly related to personal effort and performance. During your early months, you will receive assistance from your assigned team in this regard. Having some additional form of financial cushion/support is strongly recommended as is a laptop and smartphone.

Pros

Excellent training, support, and mentorship. As long as you stick with it and grind, you'll succeed.

Cons

As with all things, success can be the luck of the draw. It's up to you, to be prepared for the opportunity, should that luck finds it's way to you.
