Pros

If you want to go after more responsibility, they will let you. Engineering experience has been good. Non-Engineering training offered

Cons

Promotion in engineering ranks almost non-existent. Salary increases happen infrequently (about every 2 years). Totally sales driven, thus no budget for R&D.

Culture is a joke

Pros

Nice new building, and some updates in the old building. I was able to work hybrid, but not everyone is allowed that opportunity.

Cons

The culture is a joke, raises are a joke, you really are just another number in this place. Everyone/department has a different set of rules when it comes to working remote.

True to Bob's Culture (Mostly)

Pros

Most people know Barry-Wehmiller based on Bob Chapman's message: Everybody Matters. For the most part, it's true. BW has a culture of recognition where, if you do your part, you will be noticed, and in some cases, recognized with awards such as the "Shine the Light award". BW is also known for NOT laying people off and it's pretty hard to be fired.

Cons

Your experience with BW may vary greatly depending on your leader or the specific business within Barry-Wehmiller (which is just a holding company for acquiring other businesses). Each BW business has its own culture, and due to the decentralized nature of the business and org reporting structure, oftentimes decision-making is slow and direction is unclear. Also, the company policies don't always live up to the cultural messaging. The company is self aware of these issues, but often due to politics, they can't get out of their own way to fix the problems.
