Pros

The work is fun and there sales training works. It is a company with high expectations and personal accountability but with recognition and encouragement such as with contests or bonuses. If you show leadership ability and willingness to learn you can move up. Pay is not great for an associate but as you move up it is very fair. They pay quite well for those with proven experience and those who are not afraid to show inititive. The discount is good 30% for associates and 40% for upper management or the current sale, whichever is greater.

Cons

Low salary for starting associates. Reviews are only done once a year. If you start less than ninty days before the review you are bumped to the next review in January.

Pros

Free stuff (we used to get more before the company started cutting down) It's possible to move up into leadership roles very structured selling technique. floorsets can be fun.

Cons

the structure in the selling technique is good in theory but is heavily enforced by corporate and it rolls downhill. The DM is hard on the SM. The SM is hard on the CM's who are hard on the SL's who are hard on the associates. I know the associates get frustrated with this sometimes, because actually putting the methods into practice is not as easy as the high ups in corporate make it seem. If it is dealt with in a positive manner, the store could greatly benefit from it, but if one in the downline uses more of a condescending, lecturing tone, then that rolls down hill as well and you get unhappy management and associates. The tone in my store has gotten increasingly hostile in the past couple months, making it hard to enjoy my time there. The higher management doesn't realize that I am a younger Manager. I am still in college and would like to enjoy my summer with my friends, but any time I do, I get pulled aside and told to put the company first.
