Pros

If you are someone who is motivated by praise and recognition, this is the place for you. As a Store Manager weekly conference calls are mandatory to allow for summary of previous weeks sales numbers and traffic conversion, "opportunites" with Brand, Talent, and Capabilities (which is there term for administrative focus on everything from merchandising to payroll. Sets the pace and goal for the upcoming week. They have "playbook" that if you follow, WORD fo WORD, will bring much success and a lot less grief for you as a manager within the Limited Brands World. It's basically "Retail Management for Dummies". Very structured company.

Cons

Because the company is Very structured, you will have very little opportunity to "think outside the box". Be VERY careful with alllllll of their policies in place. They do enforce them, even if you think they are the most minut and trival procedures. You will succeed if you give your life to them. This is a VERY hands on position. Work/Life balance may come after your first year once you have finally caught up with all there is to learn and establish your foundation. There is NO life in the months of NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, AND JANUARY! (January is their Semi-Annual clearance event.) If you are not good at organization, and time management, this is NOT the place for you.

Pros

flexibility for a student, always smelling good, the gratis you get if you work at a flagship location.

Cons

management can be really anal, holidays are nuts, 3 hour shifts are not cool.

Pros

It's a fun place to work - there's always something to do, a new challenge with product, customer, or visual presentation. There are occassional perks with free products. Company to employee respect is relatively high; for retail, retention is ok and employees aren't openly treated like chatel. With the exception of placing too high a value on semi-anonymous customer feedback, employees are regarded well at B&BW

Cons

It's retail, which is a tough place to be right now - people are holding their money close, which can be stressful when you're doing your best to seperate them. Customer behavior has also changed with the economy - people are getting angry more quickly and are sometimes harder to satisfy (they just want more for their money). Also - the policy of letting an employee go if they receive more than one complaint in a 6 mo. period is harsh. While it's unusual, there are people out there who complain, not because of an actual situation, but because they perceived it (not always an employees fault - if someone has social anxiety disorder, for example, their emotions escalate differently and it won't always be possible the employee to fix or adress it, either because it isn't apparent or because that person doesn't want to be soothed - and there is no way for a customer service rep to recognize this over the phone). We also have customers who have learned that there can be perks to complaining.
