      Ok for a short stint

      Pros

      Good reputation as a research organization. Great people (friendly and competent) in many departments. Nice team work within departments and among them.

      Cons

      Little to no management support for career development which is supposed to happen on your own time and at your own expense. The mantra is to keep overhead and non-billable costs as low as possible, but by now this has negatively impacted most Battelle employees in one way or another.

      Pros

      Excellent people to work with. Average pay.

      Cons

      Massive reorganization and loss of competency through early retirement, "voluntary" separation and good people finding greener pastures. What was once a crown jewel of research and independent, creative thought is now just a government contractor trying desperately to cut its costs to remain in business conducting run of the mill government work.

      Pros

      Battelle has a long history of innovation and solving some of the world's most difficult scientific challenges. I find the strong sense of mission both empowering and refreshing. Battelle's strength will always be its depth of very smart people who are willing to work together to achieve the impossible. There is something to be proud of in the work we do at Battelle, and I count myself lucky to be a part of its future.

      Cons

      Most of the buildings are outdated and the interiors could use a face lift. The complex is pretty large and not very easy for new employees to navigate. There is a fitness center on-site, but it needs to be remodeled to be compete. The person that currently leads the fitness program is pretty outstanding, so that does make a difference.
