Pros
College is where they teach it, this is where they do it. The caliber of the Scientists is top notch so every day is like working with your college Profs. Variety of project work is possible if it’s available and you can juggle it.
Cons
Just because you “got the job”, doesn’t mean you “have a job”, you have to constantly market yourself to the senior staff (project managers) for them to put you on their project. Fiscal year roller coaster and lots of pressure (line managers) to keep yourself funded, too much to say on this subject, BEWARE. Big place, some managers are better than others. Very degree conscious.
