They are struggling to win contracts and throwing blame in all the wrong places. Upper management is reducing benefits, including forcing everyone on to a sub-standard health care plan. In the past 5 years, the benefits package went from one of the best to below average. We were told almost annually that the company was restructuring its management to reduce overhead costs, but I never saw one bit of difference. The inability to be competitive eventually cost me and several co-workers our jobs when work dried up.

Benefits are declining rapidly, management is top-heavy, focus shifting from small research-oriented projects to larger service contracts and product development. Less focus on science and more on increasing revenue. Stovepiped business structure increasingly limits interdisciplinary collaboration.
