Pros

Used to be a great company 5+ years ago. The current c suite has tanked this company. Previously, there were many talented people who worked there. Previous leadership was amazing at taking care of their employees and always inspired people to do their best for the franchise owners.

Cons

I’m so grateful I left Batteries Plus when I did—walking away was the best decision I’ve ever made. Every single person I’ve known who left after working there for 10–20 years has been so much better off—financially, emotionally, and mentally. It’s a testament to just how toxic this place is. The culture is drowning in toxic masculinity and blatant sexism, with leadership that actively disregards employee wellbeing. HR isn’t there to support staff—they’re too busy figuring out how to legally lay off the next round of people. Case in point: they emailed a list of employees about to be laid off to the wrong group of people. Did anyone get held accountable? Of course not. The marketing team, which cared deeply about the brand and franchisees, was constantly mistreated—overworked, ignored, and underpaid. I heard the same story from other departments as well. Passion and hard work were met with dismissal and disrespect. If you’re considering a job here, run. This place is a masterclass in dysfunction, and no paycheck is worth the chaos and toxicity they’ll put you through. Leaving was a blessing, and I hope others find the courage to do the same.

Pros

Great people in supporting roles. Benefits start day one of employment.

Cons

If you're looking for a workplace that prioritizes its employees, fosters growth, and operates with clarity, this is not the place for you. My experience with this company has been disappointing on nearly every front. Ego-Driven Leadership: Decisions are often made to serve the egos of upper management rather than the betterment of the company or its employees. Feedback from employees is dismissed, creating a culture of disillusionment. Not Employee-Centric: There's little regard for employee well-being or development. Employee concerns are brushed aside, and there’s no meaningful effort to create a supportive or engaging work environment. Antiquated Systems: The systems and processes here are outdated and inefficient. Instead of investing in modernization, the company clings to old methods that hinder productivity and morale. Minimal Training: Corporate employees are thrown into roles with insufficient training. You’re expected to figure things out on your own, which leads to frustration and costly mistakes. Moving Targets: Objectives and expectations change constantly, often without warning or proper communication. It feels like you're chasing a moving target with no end in sight. No Clear Path for Advancement: Growth opportunities are nonexistent or extremely unclear. The lack of career development programs or structured advancement paths makes this a dead-end job for most employees. Old-School Thought Processes: The leadership mindset is stuck in the past, resistant to innovation or new ideas. This creates a stagnant and uninspiring workplace culture. Reactive Decision Making: The company seems to operate in crisis mode, constantly reacting to issues rather than proactively addressing potential challenges. This creates unnecessary stress and chaos. Overall, the company is in dire need of a cultural and operational overhaul. Until leadership prioritizes employees and embraces modern, forward-thinking approaches, I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a fulfilling and stable career.
