      Pros

      Good benefits and pay. Tuition reimbursements and good co-workers. As a research scientist workload is based on projects and the more productive you are the greater the bonus for the department. Extra perks is great bonus packages. Bayer itself, on its own, was a great place to work until the merger with Merck consumer health and this changed everything.

      Cons

      Fast pace environment and if you have a wrong director, it means your career is doomed. Due to an acquisition of Merck consumer products layoffs were expected. Too many expectations to bring new products to market but most don't make it.

      Pros

      I cannot recommend working at Bayer. Payroll is not very reliable in making the correct deductions from an emplyees paycheck. Pay scale is not comparable to wages in other SF Bay Area biotechs.

      Cons

      Payscale is not comparable to wages in the SF Bay Area. No compensation for excessive hours of overtime due to inadequate personnel and complacent management. Role responsibility is not well defined, expected to accept responsibilities of other departments from external directors. No promotions even if additional work is beyond responsibilities and requires excessive overtime. No commuting benefits. Work-Life balance is nonexistent. The work environment is very stressful.
