Pros

Great people, good culture, wonderful colleagues. Learned alot and made lasting friendships. Access to leadership used to be good., but culture changing. Salary and benefits are ok, but talent underutilized and very little opportunity for advancement.

Cons

Indecision and lack of leadership at SVP level and higher. No idea what is corporate strategy and too many make work projects that never go forward. Since it is a nice work environment, too easy to settle in and be rewarded for being an underachiever. If you don't mind being bored and constant mental masturbation exercises, work life balance is pretty good. Consequently company settles in a pattern of me too products and last to market Too much a tendency to leave people in the same role, and job titles do not effectively represent level of responsibility.

Acquisition gone wrong

Pros

Major global company, good benefits, good work life balance.

Cons

Very bureaucratic and European (title matters more than content), slow, poor research and understanding of US agricultural market and how consumers feel about the Monsanto brand. There will likely be a break up of the company in the near future causing further chaos and slowdown- it may be necessary though. I think at the moment most folks in the company are just sitting on their hands and waiting for the next 2-3 years. Many patents expiring in the next 2-3 years but even programs meant to stimulate innovation are not being given the resources needed - the cost of litigating is higher priority right now.
