Pros

Good colleagues and engineers for the most part, decent benefits and focus on safety, employee training.

Cons

Not the place if you have ambitions especially at Berkeley site. There are handful people who keep rotating in different functions and rest are stuck in same levels for decades, forget years. Few opportunities will open up here and there and they are promptly handed over to their own favorites without fit for the job by the same handful of people.

Pros

Competitive salary, great benefits, on site gym, childcare facility, awesome cafeteria, recognized brands, on site clinic, employee groups for networking.

Cons

Culture, management & people. Culture - nothing defined. Lots of talk but no action. Hypocritical. Work-life balance is better in some departments but mostly non existent in others. Continual change in management, personnel, responsibilities and procedures/policies. Can be disorganized, not actionable or simply unclear. Management & people- lots of tension from Merck merger. You are either Merck or Bayer or an outsider. Very little inclusion with each other. Bayer preaches collaboration but really it's the Marketing department that makes all the decisions. Communication is an issue. Very much top-down where you will not have any input in decision process. Lack of diversity in upper management. Lack of training and development of people. Many layers to get anything done. Cutting back on innovation. Very competitive environment so watch your back. Lastly - sales goals are unrealistic.
