      Pros

      Smart and hardworking coworkers Competitive compensation Fast moving

      Cons

      No respect for work-life balance, especially challenging with family obligations. As BeiGene runs lean on resource, it could be a crushing load if your staff or coworkers resign. Probe accordingly on duration of the team if you have the chance as certain departments could be toxic. Management often dictates without critical collaboration from stakeholders or rushes to complete projects to meet tight deadline with inadequate resource. As a result, frequent evening calls to align and realign with China. Management appears to be deaf or turns a blind eye regarding burn out.

      Pros

      Some smart colleagues that support each other and are trying to do the right thing for the patients. Well positioned to exploit China biotech growth opportunity. Financially stable with promising pipeline and strong collaborations.

      Cons

      Where to begin: Most of management largely clueless with a sense of entitlement. Absolutely no respect for boundary between home/personal life and work life. Expect texts, e-mails and calls any hour of the day, including weekends, nights,etc. So many silos and lack of communication across functions/geographies.

      Pros

      I made some great friends with those who were in the trenches with me. They say that the stress of disaster bring people together.

      Cons

      Weak management team who only look out for themselves; Poor communication across the organization; Siloed regions/offices/programs; it is NOT a typical pharma/biotech environment. The US was sold the “US will teach China from their vast experience and we can all grow together” vision but instead it turned out to be “China can do it better, faster, cheaper.” Spoiler Alert: US staff is leaving because they have options.
