opportunity for career growth slim to none unless highly favored by management - could take years to get the promotion and pay you deserve, a lot of favoritism and politics - have to know how to play the game, pay is awful in comparison to competitors and other companies, lot of managers micromanage and lack the soft skills required to lead a team, no work life balance at all - they expect you to work like a slave even your weekends, management make promises and guarantees just to hush you up and never follow through on anything, new hires advance and get more opportunities (assignments abroad) lately than employee with 8-10 yrs of experience that actually know the work processes, if family already employed there you're good - they'll create a role for you even though you have zero experience or even lack a degree in that area e.g. engineering, those that take field assignment for 1st 3 years with company come back to U.S. and are made supervisors and receive bump in pay SMH
