Pros

Pay is generally competitive. Some very talented and dedicated people are at work. Promotion relies heavily on relationships (under the disguise of "communication skills") I guess it proves that you are good at something, right? Family oriented - good work atmosphere where people help out each other.

Cons

Some managers are just insane that they don't know/care anything but the reports, the deadlines, the meetings, the numbers. Until you are in their shoes then you realized you are always a day late and a dollar short, and you find yourself quoting "xxxx always rolls downhill" to your own employees. Family oriented - bad that some seemingly unqualified people are still on payroll for decades!

Pros

Great place to work as you'll get involved in "signature projects" well known worldwide. If you want to explore the world you can push for this due to their large portafolio of overseas assignments. Good Benefits - health insurance and pension plans are genereous.

Cons

Employee support departments - namely Payroll, HR, etc - do not provide a good service towards basic and elementary stuff that may jeopardise employee satisfaction with the company. They often make mistakes and are reluctant to amend them, regardless that this may cost you a lot of time and effort to rectify the situation. Annual bonuses are just symbolic.

Pros

They do very prestiguous projects which offer great exposure to all aspects of the construction process. The work is demanding but can be very satisfying to see it come together. International work experience is great.

Cons

Sometimes it is a hands off job. Its more a management/supervisory role than hands on work. Sometimes it is difficult working in the Middle East due to cultural barriers etc.
