Some good people to work with, good financially stable company

Cons

No company driven employee development opportunities, critical areas such as corporate supply chain and corporate IT staff are severely understaffed, lack of leadership and vision at executive levels, employees have responsibility with no authority

Pros

Close to home; some great peers to work with

Cons

Drags feet in giving performance evaluations & merit increases are rare; only one major customer so company succeeds or fails based upon how customer does. it's a roller coaster ride; furloughs happen on a regular basis. Lots of unhappy stressed out employees

Pros

Benchmark is a company where one can work independently with little supervision. There are some very nice skill based opportunities concerning new technologies and disciplines.

Cons

The problems with Benchmark have to do with long-term relationships with both employees and customers. Senior management does not do enough to foster relationships by providing incentives or praise for their employees. Most praise is at best shallow and only given sometimes after a customer has already provided it to the employee. The management focuses on short-term profitability without regard for future growth opportunities, which usually results in lost customer and employee satisfaction. Investment into new opportunities is also low and most opportunities are gained with maximum effort by a few employees whom afterwards are not rewarded for their efforts.
