Pros

ROWE! Not sure if it is still being used but when I was there they were using a Results Oriented Work Environment. It didn't matter when you were at work as long as the yob tou were hired to perform was getting done. If it takes me 6 hours to do my job and you take 8, why should I have to sit in my chair 2 hours longer. You can also get your work done at home and not even have to come in every day which was great because the commute to Richfield can be a nightmare.

Cons

Too many meetings, not enough "desk time" to do the work that needed to get done. Many days I would have a total of 60-90 minutes at my desk all day. The rest of the time I was at a meeting for one committee or another. VERY young workforce in some areas made it difficult to be the one that had to go home for a sick child.

Pros

The best reason to work for best buy is for its discounts. they give out very good discounts on all sorts of appliances and electronics. such as xbox, ps3, games, nintnedo wii, DS, all games too. movies as well. The employees are cool, they are usually very ufn people to hang. The building is nice, good working environement as well as good atmostphere. I like the bestbuy logo as well and their employee oufits. Over all nice company to work for. sales floor are always clean and the managers are okay. easy interview, decent wage payable. overall good company to wokr for

Cons

best buy believes its sales people (the ones actually getting customers to buy the expensive stuff that fuels profits for the whole company) deserved any credit or compensation when they do a good job. the company would rather take the sale guty's commission and give it to his manager who standsx or sits behind him so that he can hassled him about the service plan he didn't attach. after all he gets a bonus if i sell enough service plans. this creates a situation where the only motivation i have to push high margin goods is to keep my boss from reminding me that his bonus dedpends on me selling high margin attachments for him. the problem with this is that the managers don't sell they babysit and tell you what you sholuld have recommend so he can get his bonus. other than him pushing me to earn his bonus for him i make the same pay regardless whether i move 200 or 20000$ worth of goods out the door. in fact i make 10 bucks an hour whether i sell or i fake sell. this working arrangement also leads the managers to insist on pushing employees to do things that our training, company policy, an\d care for our customers would advise against. if you didn't want your boss to give you a hard time or schedule poorly thjen it was strogly encouraged you say whatever. m is needed to sell that service plan afterr all i wouldn't want my boss not to get his bonus right?

Pros

There aren't any worthwhile things to say about the company as a whole. You get a decent discount, however they are even slowly making that worse and worse as time goes on. I've personally been with the company for 4 years this August 09'. When I was originally hired the discount was nothing short of amazing. Parents could use it, siblings, your wife/husband, and your children, you could even get away with buying a "gift" for friends. Since then the discount has been limited to simply your significant other and your children. They tried changing the discount to make it even worse than it is now but pulled back when the employees of the company got into an uproar over the change. Which was that you were not allowed to get more than 50% off a single item, so stuff like Dynex, Rocketfish, Insignia, and Init all of Best Buy's brands that are usually around 70-90% off depending on what your buying would now cost employees a insane amount of money. The only other benefit is the ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Program) which gives you a great price on buying Best Buy stock and the money is taken directly from your paycheck each pay period.

Cons

Best Buy doesn't care at all about there employees in the slightest form. All it cares about is making it's money. When you first get hired they talk up how much Best Buy cares about their employees, it is basically just a way of making you feel good about getting hired. Personally I have worked there for 4 years this August 09'. I am still a Part-Time Geek Squad Agent after being promised the world so many times I've finally came to the conclusion I am going no where in the company. I have been promised the Geek Squad Senior position twice by my Supervisor, and both times was told by the management that I was far to "incompetent" to do the job, to later been told both times that I needed to now train the person who actually got hired as senior so they would know how to do their new job properly. I have also been promised full-time three times. Once the one full-time agent spot available was given to a new hire with no certifications, no qualifications, and in the end he got fired because he had no idea what he was doing. The other two times they bought people into the department to free up labor from departments that didn't have it. One time it was someone from the Car-Fi department whose technical background consisted of knowing how to login to MySpace. The other was a employee of Digital Imaging, who didn't know the difference between a CPU and a Hard Drive.
