Pros

As a college student it wasn't a bad job. I could get time off when I really needed it and the pay was OK. The best part of working for Best Buy is the discount and accommodations.

Cons

The focus of Geek Squad is moving in the wrong direction. At the time I was there the focus was not to find qualified people but people competent enough to utilize one of the many ways they outsource computer repairs. The focus need to change toward servicing customer from within the store and hire people at a decent wage who know something.

Pros

Best Buy is a high energy environment that makes it fun to work at. Having the opporunity to make a difference in the lives of your employees makes it rewarding. The benefits, including the discount, are phenomenal. The leadership within the company is highly intelligent, willing to take risks, and are always ahead of the curve.

Cons

Work-life balance is non-existant as a manager at Best Buy. You are expected to work long hours, feel gulity for taking vacations, and are never truly able to unplug. The highly competitive nature of the company can lead to infighting between stores, sometimes putting the financial scorecard over the needs of the customer.
