Pros

- Excellent place for entry-level software engineers to gain hands-on experience. - Small engineering team provides opportunities to work across the full stack and contribute to many parts of the development process. - Developers are given meaningful responsibilities early, making it a good environment for building technical skills. - Exposure to a variety of technologies and projects that helped accelerate my growth as an engineer.

Cons

- Workplace cleanliness was a persistent issue. For approximately six months, there was an ongoing pest infestation that continued despite multiple reports to management and HR. It created an uncomfortable work environment and, on at least one occasion, caused our team to leave a meeting because of a roach in the room. - Employee concerns did not always feel like a priority. I was initially discouraged from contacting HR about workplace issues, and when I eventually did, there was little visible improvement. - As a small company, there were instances where favoritism appeared to affect accountability and decision-making. - Engineering processes became less structured over time, including the discontinuation of Scrum without a clear replacement. - Employees were occasionally asked to sign employment-related agreements with little notice and limited time to review them, which felt unnecessarily high-pressure. - Communication between management and the engineering team could be improved, and developers often felt blamed for issues outside their control.

Pros

As a Program Manager at Better Direct, I can confidently say this is one of the best places I’ve ever worked. The company culture is incredibly supportive and inclusive, fostering a sense of belonging that makes coming to work a joy. The diversity here is remarkable—not just in backgrounds but in ideas and perspectives, which fuels creativity and collaboration on every project. What stands out most is the mentorship. Senior leaders and colleagues genuinely invest in your growth, offering guidance and feedback that have helped me sharpen my skills and take on new challenges. There’s a clear emphasis on professional development, with ample opportunities to grow into more complex roles or explore different areas of the business. The work environment encourages innovation and ownership, allowing me to lead impactful programs while feeling trusted and empowered. Better Direct truly values its people, and it shows in the way teams work together and celebrate each other’s successes. I’d highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a dynamic, inclusive workplace where you can thrive and make a difference.

Cons

Pros

The dress code is casual

Cons

The managers don’t know how to manage and the owner is racist and sexist. People in the same position get treated differently for no reason.
