Pros

Mostly enjoyed my day to day experience. Great building and location. Can have a good amount of flexibility depending on what team you are on. Opportunity for growth if you mingle with the right people. Good deployment workflow for software developers.

Cons

Aside from always having to worry about profitability (which is the biggest con), there can be quite a bit of "bus throwing" amongst various teams and certain managers. There are dev teams that feel as if some work is beneath them so they try to pawn it off on other teams with laughable justification. Retail portion of the business was pretty neglected at the point I left.

Pros

You really got to enhance multitasking and people skills. I learned a lot about computers while working here and legitimately enjoyed my job. if you can focus on the customer and enjoy working with people this will be a great job for you.

Cons

Said they were pro education but when it came down to it they were unable to be flexible with school schedule. Some policies make customer service agents feel like numbers which can make morale low.

Pros

The company allows employees to give input on anything going on. They allow employees to vent internally through different platforms and the exec team and CEO are heavily engaged. Every month those ideas where all the employees have voted on are bubbled up, the leadership team votes yes or no. I’ve never worked for a company where employees are given so much of a voice.

Cons

Overstock.com has its own brand of crazy for sure, but it’s no crazier than anywhere else. It’s the pace at which we move that people can’t manage. Changes are made quickly and if you can’t keep up, you will absolutely, positively not fit in. If you want a calm, peaceful, serenity now type of environment, Overstock is not for you. Plan on working your tail off, plan on changes, plan on a fast pace... so if you don’t like to work, move on.
