Pros

At least you are employed.

Cons

Co-workers used to be in the pros. so many people leaving and they cant hire fast enough. One reason people are leaving is Overstock is proving how little they care about their devs and QA by the minuscule pay raises they are given and a token bonus and maybe (if you are in the right pay grade) some RSUs. the pay raises they are giving dont even start to bring people up to where the industry is currently. They also will only let you work remote in 20 states. Not a huge deal, but petty if you ask me. So, they work you till you want to drop because so many are leaving, give the execs huge bonuses, and show the employees they don't care. Im currently looking for other companies to work for. Ones that care.

Pros

Use to have a family feel to it, I was excited for work as everyone was so friendly and willing to help. Since Ive been here so long most knew me and trusted me. Was nice not having a micro manage feel and had open communication without fear of retaliation. Felt like a home town mom and pop we got you and will make sure you succeed type of feel. Felt like home and was my second family.

Cons

So many changes happen and you are just expected to roll with the punches. One thing you can always expect is change without full proper training on all changes taken place. Ive worked from home before the pandemic and although there were many system issues as at home agent, tech still looked out for you and Overstock would take care of you as long as you had proof of the system issues. Now you are expected to not be paid if any system issues that are out of Overstock control Example - power outage, internet outage ect. You are not compensated for internet expenses either to work from home but never have been. At that time the at home program was not as important as it is now but back then you had stability, guidance, structure and worked only to see you get better. It felt WAY more like that family unit than it does now. Now it feels like they are waiting for you to fail to have a reason to say See Ya! It feels like you have to be constantly looking over the shoulder and have no chance for social interaction. If you do you are constantly monitored and asked why you are having side conversations. Constantly walking on eggshells anymore and the culture I once loved left with the people who are no longer with the company. Most now are one way to the agents example I agree with you and feel the same as you do but then on paper or to their boss or management are completely different. It feels robotic and just like every other call center where you are just a number that can be replaced. Not appreciated for the work you put in as it is never enough. And the work you put in is nit picked to death where every little thing is nailed to the wall. I used to refer people to work here but anymore I cannot give a solid reason other than hopes it can get back the culture we once had to be here.
