Pros

Cool corporate campus, fun monthly events, good insurance options, generous 401k match, on-site health clinic & daycare, and a reasonably priced cafeteria with tasty food.

Cons

Nepotism really is as rampant as other reviewers say. It's leadership roulette, some seem capable and confident while others... are less so. Building trust in leadership is a constant, company-wide struggle. Direct management is also a toss-up. In my time at Overstock, I had managers that were empowering and trusting as well as managers that seemed to enjoy belittling, shaming, and criticizing others. A lot still needs to be done to improve psychological safety in the workplace. Early on, compensation was fair and competitive, but Overstock has developed a habit of permanently increasing job responsibilities without increasing pay. It's easy to get stuck in a dead-end position. Not enough opportunities for advancement. There's a perception that management's only willing to create new positions for friends.

Pros

Cool people. Your peers are what make coming to work at overstock worth it. The job itself is fun and rewarding.

Cons

You’ll work in a hostile work environment. Leadership seems to think that fear tactics are what will get results from people who are already working so hard to stay above water. Everyday feels like a constant battle with the CS management in customer care. You’re not considered a human being, you’re only a number. You’re shown zero appreciation however when you’re screwing up, they will not hesitate to let you know. Leadership has no structure or any clue what they’re doing and takes no ownership when they’re the ones that are actually messing up. They’re out for themselves only, will throw you under the bus and will provide no development. The only communication you’ll receive is if you’re not 100%. Transparency? What transparency?
